Sophisticated Darkness – Givenchy Gentleman Boisée Fragrance Review
In this article, I’ll be providing a review on Givenchy Gentleman EDP Boisée a fragrance by the house of Givenchy as evident by the name.
Givenchy is an enigmatic perfume house. There isn’t a Givenchy that smells terrible. While some are merely competent, others are great masterpieces. Some are delicate, and airy, while others are a true olfactory assault. Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is a very well crafted, refined, and beautifully balanced fragrance.
The prototype of Givenchy Gentleman carrier is a guy who no longer wants to remain youthful, and reckless. Someone who wants to escape adolescence. It’s someone who wants to embrace his adulthood.
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is a spicy, and balsamic iris/vanilla blast. It combines the delicacy of iris with the sweetness of vanilla, the resinous core of tolu balm, and spicy touch of peper, all over a patchouli foundation that gives this combination a woody suggestion. Vanilla iris by Ormonde Jane is fairly similar. However, this one is even better and far less expensive. This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest scents of the previous 3 years, as well as one of the most under appreciated.
On the skin, Gentleman Boisée has a lot of DNA shared with the Eau de Parfum version, but instead of the vanilla-balsamic accord, it gets a wood bath.
Backstory
Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp collaborated on Givenchy Gentleman Boisée, It is a woody-floral-spicy scent. At first, the composition is rich, relying on nobler raw ingredients such Black Pepper from Madagascar and Vietnam. The Coriander essences are from Russia, and Ukraine. Geranium comes from Egypt. Iris concretes from China, and Italy, Chocolate, and Virginia cedar make up the centre section of this fragrance. Sandalwood from Australia. Alongside, burning woods, and patchouli from Indonesia are found near the base of the olfactory pyramid.
Givenchy’s Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée is a Woody Spicy scent for men. It was released in the year 2020. Black Pepper, Geranium, and Coriander are the top notes; iris, Cacao Pod, and Cedar are the middle notes; while Sandalwood, Woodsy Notes, and Patchouli are the base notes.
Review
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée begins with a strong pepper note. This is accompanied by coriander that adds to the spicy, and sweeter aspects of the first accord. The cocoa is highly discernible, and even appears at the very beginning of the composition, as if it were at the very top. And, like a good cocoa note, it gives out a drier, hotter chocolate powder scent, which, when dusted around a nice chocolate truffle, cuts through the sweetness. More than that, cocoa acts in this world of chocolates as if it were a cousin of cinnamon powder.
The iris note in Givenchy Gentleman Boisee isn’t obnoxious or overpowering in this case. It’s silky, and refined, making it ideal for folks who can’t stand a powdery perfume. Many people believe the powdery aspects originate from it, but make no mistake: the chocolate is still the star contender for adding powderiness to the cologne.
The progression of the fragrance leads to a minty balsamic bonbon that combines the softness of sandalwood with the airy richness of patchouli leaves, which is now woodier. Gentleman Boisée has the appearance of a semi-gourmand scent, especially in warmer weather.
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée without question is one of the great launches of recent years. It was able to rekindle the excitement in the eyes of people who had always looked forward to the debuts of the most well-known companies in the Designer market. Givenchy Gentleman Boisée assumes that Iris, chocolate, and sandalwood are the notes of today’s gentleman.

How is the sillage, and longevity of Givenchy Gentleman Boisée?
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée has average projection, and a below average sillage. The performance of the fragrance is good, it smells like a semi-gourmand, woodsy fragrance. You will get wafts of this fragrance throughout the day, and it’s a pleasant scent to smell on someone.
The lifespan of the Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is average, and nothing out of the ordinary. I can get around 5-6 hours of solid use from this fragrance. The fragrance does shift it’s character during it’s lifespan. It goes from a more dark and sensual opening, to a woody dry down. It’ll keep you smelling delectable throughout its lifespan. The fragrance is a decent value for money, considering it has decent longevity, works for a multitude os situations, and has high quality ingredients.
How versatile is Givenchy Gentleman Boisée?
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is moderately versatile fragrance. It is a fragrance that can be worn throughout the year. However, I’d recommend using it during the Autumn, and Winter as that’s when the composition strikes the most. It can work for any occasion you throw at it as long as it’s not too casual. Such as going groceries, or working out at the gym. This cologne would be perfect for work, weddings, dates, and dinners. It’s a very intriguing, and alluring scent. It’s sillage smells great, but people would have to come closer to you to experience it. Givenchy Gentleman Boisée is definitely the best flanker amongst the Gentleman line from Givenchy.
Gentleman Boisée projects badly and stays extremely close to the skin in terms of performance. However, it lasts for six hours with little effort, and despite appearing to be a more solemn scent, it performs well in corporate settings as well as romantic situations, with no age restrictions.
Givenchy Gentleman Boisee is a nicely balanced fragrance that is well-crafted and polished. Geranium, iris, and cedar come through, and linger for hours making this a love at first scent for me. This is a unique scent that sticks out. This is a more male scent, yet energetic ladies may be able to wear it in the summer. Overall, this is a bottle of tremendous woody and powdery magic!

Conclusion
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée aroma isn’t revolutionary, and it’s not particularly unique (the resemblance to Uomo Intense is clear to me), but it’s precisely tailored to my preferences, and made with the proper components. Not as make-up-y as DHI, nor as iris-dominant as Prada L’homme, not as young as le male le perfume, not leathery like Uomo Intense. Gentleman Boisee combines the best from all the fragarnces I’ve listed above. As a result, My Layton will have stiff competition in the future.
