In this article, I’ll be providing a review on Creed Original Vetiver a fragrance by the house of Creed as evident by the name.
Creed Original Vetiver presents a unique twist on vetiver, in a beautiful way. OV has to be one of the most pure/soapy yet well-balanced scents I’ve ever encountered; it’s a true jewel. I find it to be a true gentleman’s scent. Very clean, mature, and refreshing, you can’t go wrong with it.
Creed Original Vetiver scent is best described as fresh, and clean. It smells like soap suds, warm water combined together to form a wonderful cleaning scent. It’s energising, and confidence inducing. It does not yell or become obnoxious in any way. Nor does it sit too near to the skin, and become silent. It precisely predicts a man who is squeaky clean. It’s difficult to dislike this perfume unless you despise clean things. Spring, and summer are ideal seasons for this perfume. It has a fresh, green sense to it. It leans more on the fresh, warm side than aquatic, bright, citrusy side. Original Vetiver has a soothing, fresh, and delicate scent with an organic, earthy background.
Creed’s interpretation of Vetiver follows the principles of the house. The Vetiver plant couldn’t smell harsh, and aggressive in this scent as its supposed to be perceived as an aristocratic perfume. As a result, it stands apart in a category where vetiver is widely linked with an earthy mood. Because of the brand’s ambergris signature, the base is rather creamy.
The olfactory equivalent of your father advising you how to dress for success is Creed Original Vetiver. This isn’t a game-changing perfume, but it does reflect what a man who cares about his appearance should smell like in any profession. This is a well-executed soapy manly scent.
Backstory
Creed is said to have gotten the vetiver used in Original Vetiver for numerous generations from a certain farm in Haiti. Instead of the traditional woody/green that purportedly comes from the grass, they use the fluid from the roots, which gives it that characteristic milky/soapy scent.
Creed’s Original Vetiver is a new spin on the traditional Vetiver note. The scent of vetiver is usually derived from the plant’s root. Original Vetiver mixes the roots with the vetiver leaves for a unique, and refreshing effect.
For a warm, sensuous, and refined scent, this unisex fragrance combines vetiver with Mediterranean citrus and spice.
Ginger, mandarin, and bergamot make up the top notes. The middle notes include Haitian vetiver, Mysore sandalwood, and Florentine Iris. Musk and ambergris make up the foundation notes.
Creed’s Original Vetiver is a Woody Spicy scent for both men and women. Original Vetiver was first introduced in 2004. Olivier Creed and Erwin Creed designed the first Vetiver.
Review
Creed Original Vetiver unfolds with exquisite citrus, and ginger notes. I admit that there isn’t much vetiver in the beginning, but that changes as the scent advances to the mid-notes. It then turns woody, with a lovely vetiver note that blends with Creed’s trademark ambergris base to produce one of the most delightful fragrance clouds. This is one of the few scents that I pick up simply to smell the sprayer.
The Vetiver present in Original Vetiver pops its head through the mid notes of the fragrance. It’s a unique vetiver since it’s so beautifully integrated into the smell that it defies classification as unclean or clean. While the soapiness of the smell leads one to believe it is more clean, it also has a little dirty/spicy aspect to it that allows it to fit into both clean, and unclean. As the fragrance progresses, I notice that it gets very cream-like. Creed Original Vetiver is a rich musky, powdery, vetiver fragrance that is really stunning.
Original Vetiver’s dry-down is traditional Creed DNA, with a woody/musky ambergris capped with spicy vetiver components. I adore the Creed’s dry-down DNA, so topping it with a really well-rounded creamy spicy vetiver note is absolutely wonderful, and it’s when it hits this level that I get the most praises.
Creed Original Vetiver smells a lot like Mugler Cologne, but it’s a lot better, more natural, and has a gingery bite to it. Mugler is a touch more flowery, a little bit more citrus, and a little deal more synthetic.
Original Vetiver is a fantastic perfume blend. It’s fresh, energising, and wholesome, but with refined fragrant wood overtones. Unlike pure vetiver, which has an earthy, undergrowth aroma. The pine scent present in this fragrance complements the vetiver well to give it a high, airy sense.

How is the sillage, and longevity of Creed Original Vetiver?
Creed Original Vetiver has excellent projection, and a monstrous sillage. The performance of the fragrance is marvellous, it smells great, and is one of the nicest fresh, spicy fragrances I’ve encountered to day.
The lifespan of the Creed Original Vetiver is exceptional for a fresh fragrance. I can get around 6+ hours of solid use from this fragrance. The perfume remains as a skins scent for 10+ hours. I absolutely adore the longevity of this fragrance, and it keeps projecting throughout the day. The fragrance is an average value for money, It smells high quality, has excellent longevity, and performance is top notch. However, I consider it to be expensive just like other creed offerings. This perfume will definitely get you noticed even after hours of wear. If money is not a problem, then Original Vetiver is one of the best smelling, beautifully blended, and well performing vetiver fragrances on the market.
How versatile is Creed Original Vetiver?
Creed Original Vetiver is a highly versatile fragrance in my opinion. It smells great, and performance is excellent. You can wear it to work, special events, or just casual outings. It can work for all seasons of the year. However, it works best during the hotter months, as the notes involved in the fragrance composition work best with heat. This fragrance can be your go to fragrance when you just want to smell clean.
Overall, Creed Original Vetiver is a real “love” for me. It’s nuclear, elegant, refined, and ultra-modern. It provides an olfactory experience that truly elevates even the most mundane tasks. One of the most easy to wear clean “soapy” scents on the market. If you are someone trying to delve into the world of Vetiver scents this is a great first scent.
Creed Original Vetiver is best worn in the hotter of the year. However, it can work in the cooler months as well, just expect the fragrance to not project as much during cooler days of the year. OV can be worn for many different occasion, so go ahead and rock this fragrance as much as you want, and wherever you want.
If I had to put it in the most simplest of terms. Using Original Vetiver as a fragrance is safer than buying apple stock.

Conclusion
Creed Original Vetiver is one of my all-time favourite perfumes. The epitome of a summer smell. This draws both men, and women people always approach me to sniff it, and inquire about it. On my skin, it lasts a long time, I adore the aroma of this fragrance that follows me around. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s worth it.
If you don’t generally use fragrance because of sensitivities to too many synthetic chemicals, or if you need something acceptable for the office, school, medical institution, gym, etc., this is the scent for you. If you want to wear a fragrance without smelling like you’re wearing one, consider buying Original Vetiver.
